Chrome 23 and Mac Audio Issue for Flash

Postby jtsai » Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:55 am

Hi guys,

We are aware of an issue with Chrome 23 and Flash Player where your audio will be distorted. We have tried various ways to work around this so that users would not have to do anything, but we could not come up with a solution. The Chromium team is aware of this bug and is going to fix it (http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue ... ?id=157613).

Right now, there is a work-around: users can manually disable the new Pepper Plugin that was shipped with Chrome 23. Here are the steps to disable it:
1) In the URL, type in "chrome://plugins"
2) Expand details in the top right corner (it should be a minus instead of a plus sign)
3) Search the page for "pepper"
4) Click "Disable"

It should look something like this:

Thanks,
John

The distorted audio issue is resolved with the latest Chrome update.

However, there is a new bug in Pepper Flash which causes the Publisher's audio stream to drop out after a couple of minutes. Also, some have reported that echo cancellation does not work with the Flash Pepper plug-in in Chrome 23. To fix these issues, clients need to disable the Pepper plug-in. (In Chrome, navigate to chrome://plugins/. Click the Details link at the top right-hand corner of the page. Search for "Pepper" to find the Pepper version of Adobe Flash Player, and click the "Disable" link.) We have logged a bug with chromium.org.

Chrome 24 was released today. Unfortunately, the echo and audio dropping bugs are not resolved with this release. We will update this thread once more information is available.
